浅谈“chant”在小学英语教学中的运用
【摘要】本文阐述了chant在英语课堂教学中的作用，并举例说明了如何开展chant教学以及教师在开展chant教学时应注意的几个问题。
【关键词】chant教学 培养兴趣 建立信心 发散思维
儿童心理学表明，小学生想象力丰富，爱玩好动，愿意学一些简单易记的内容。而 chant以其句子简短，节奏明快，琅琅上口，内容生动以及易学，易背，易表演等特点，深受师生的喜爱。教师若在课堂上经常使用chant 教学，不仅便教利学，活跃课堂气氛，激发儿童学习英语的兴趣，而且还能开启心智，增强学生的音乐节奏感。 在教学实践中，笔者根据江苏版《牛津小学英语》教材创编了许多宜于表演的的chant。教学实践表明，学生特别喜爱这些chant，对chant的内容记得特别牢固，对英语的学习态度也越来越积极。
一 “Chant”的定义和由来
“Chant”类似于在学生口中广泛传唱的童谣，其内容句式简单、琅琅上口，好记易背，配上音乐再用说唱的形式表现出来，使人读了倍感愉快难以忘怀。如 “Chant”在多年前已经在外国的英语教学中得到广泛的使用，成为英语教学的重要组成部分，积累了不少好的教学经验和做法。但在我国，英语教育对“Chant”的认识不多，只觉得那是小孩子玩或是用来娱乐消遣的事情，研究就更可谓是少之又少。但这几年，随着我国与外国的交流日益增加，我国的英语教学对“Chant”有了新的认识，研究也开始蓬勃起来。《全日制义务教育英语课程标
准（实验稿）》明确地对“Chant”提出目标和要求。在我国现已通过国家审定的小学英语教材中，“Chant”都作为其中的教学部分出现在教材中，可见“Chant”在小学英语教学中并不是可有可无，而是占相当重要的地位。
二“Chant”在小学英语教学中的作用
认知心理学研究表明小学生在学习外语时运用音乐、运动、节奏可以感到松弛、愉快和满足，产生兴奋的情绪，达到长时间记忆的目的。在英语教学中适当的使用“Chant”，不仅可以丰富教学内容，增添学习的乐趣，促使学生在轻松的环境下熟记教学内容。 “Chant”在教学中有以下作用：
1，Chant教学吸引学生的注意力，轻松学习。
小学生活泼好动、好奇心强、模仿能力强，但有意注意的持续的时间短 。而长时间机械的操练，生硬、平淡的学习，容易使学生产生厌烦情绪，学习气氛沉闷。如在教学活动中不时穿插“Chant”，会使沉闷的课堂泛起阵阵涟漪，让学生把注意重新投入到学习中，使学生在课堂上都处于兴奋、积极和活跃的学习的状态中。学生也从中感受到学习英语一点儿也不累，恰恰相反，是一件好玩的事情。
例如，在教学《牛津小学英语》5B Unit4 An English friend中由于本单元的副词较长,在反复跟读后，部分学生懈怠，注意力明显不集中，笔者适时创设了如下的Chant：
Jump ,jump ,jump high,
Run,run,run fast,chant,there,be。
Speak,speak,speak loudly,
Dance ,dance ,dance beautifully,
Sit,sit,sit quietly,
Walk ,walk ,walk carefully.
笔者先领读这首Chant，边读边拍手打比较慢的节奏，在学生们能熟读这首Chant后，教师简单的变化拍手节奏，学生跟着节奏读。学生对这种教学形式相当感兴趣，参与活动的积极性很高，注意力又高度集中。
2，Chant教学培养学生学习英语的兴趣，树立信心
英语学习离不开听、说、读、写，需要孜孜不倦和刻苦勤奋，但有时也免不了单调、枯燥和乏味。特别是对于活泼好动的小学生来讲，成人化的教学方法只能过早地挫伤小学生学习英语的积极性。小学生的学习动机往往来源于有趣的教学内容和有吸引力的教学内容。而富有童趣、节奏感强、简单易记、琅琅上口的“Chant”，对于小学生说是再合适不过了。用一种有节奏的方式来呈现语言，会增加它的多样化和新鲜感，学生学习起来会更有兴趣。另一方面，小学生天生好动和爱玩，“Chant”中配合手指及肢体动作表演，会平添几分的趣味，这些肢体动作可以帮助学生记忆和理解语言知识，更加提高学生学习的兴趣。
例如，根据《牛津小学英语》5B Unit6 A PE Lesson 中出现的内句型 Touch…with… Put…on…等，笔者创设了如下的Chant： Touch ,touch ,touch your knees ,
Touch ,touch ,touch your knees with your hands.
Touch ,touch ,touch your toes ,
Touch ,touch ,touch your toes with your hands.
Touch ,touch ,touch your nose,
Touch ,touch ,touch your nose with your hands.
…
Put ,put ,put your hands on your head.
…
在熟读以后，笔者又根据学生的强烈要求改成了“看谁反应快”等游戏，整节课学生兴趣盎然，完全掌握了学习内容。就连平时比较胆小的几个女生也积极要求到讲台前面边表演。这首 chant让学生真正感受到了学习英语的魅力。学完后成了学生非常喜欢的一个课间游戏，而且同学根据自己的想象力改了很多个版本。
3，Chant教学让学生易于接受语言知识，化繁为简chant,there,be。
由于“Chant”都是在没有负担和焦虑的情况下进行，所以学生的学习效果是比较好的。学段“Chant”远比学说英语句子容易。同时，“Chant”能把复杂简单化，化零为整。
如笔者在教学《牛津小学英语》4B Unit8 Open day中的there be 结构时，重点是学生对单复数形式不太分得清，索性就用“Chant”来教学：

学生在反复朗读后，提出要将里面的TV, balls等换掉，自编chant，兴趣极其浓厚，效果较佳。
又如在讲解《牛津小学英语》5B Unit8 At the weekends 中的重要句型How do you spend your weekens ?句型较长，学生朗读，记忆都有困难，我利用Chant分解如下：
Spend, spend ,spend your weekends,
How do you spend your weekends?
Play,play ,I often play football.
Spend, spend ,spend your weekends,
How do you spend your weekends?
catch,catch ,I often catch butterflies.
…
4，Chant教学有助于培养学生的发散思维，激发他们的创作欲望。 例如，在教学《牛津小学英语》6B Unit5 season时笔者创编了题为Season的Chant：
